Ethan Ropp
Ethan Ropp is the bass player. He incorporates influence from a variety of styles and uses a wide array of techniques, from chordal playing to advanced double thump, all while keeping a firm grasp on the groove. While his playing style incorporates more from players like Jaco Pastorius, Bubby Lewis, and Victor Wooten, his music is best described by Marcus Miller’s philosophy of “funk on the bottom, jazz on top”: harmonically and melodically exciting improvisation, but still keeping a groove that can make you dance. He currently attends Furman University on a full scholarship and has played in the Spoleto Festival, The Peace Center, Artisphere, Albino Skunk Festival, and NOMA square, as well as with a large number of bands in the southeast area such as Mojo on Max and Cappuccino Funk. He has been playing with the Gardening club since 2022, and has become a crucial part of shaping the band's sound and creative process.
